Malala

theta in progress 2.2

Malala is an ecosystem app for academic research, including Malala AI, artificial intelligence tailored specifically for education and educational research. Malala also allows college students at the top universities worldwide to access their university libraries directly through the app. Eventually, Malala will provide access to major university libraries for secondary schools through a low-cost, annual per-student subscription. Malala was created to better connect the secondary school experience to the University experience and familiarize students with the process of writing research papers for eventual peer review.

As American teachers fret about the use of artificial intelligence in education, China’s Ministry of Education has designated 184 primary and secondary schools as designated AI education bases to foster future talent. Besides China’s serious commitment to creating future artificial intelligence engineers, students as young as six will begin to learn how to use AI chatbots and learn the fundamentals of AI ethics. In contrast, 23% of American school districts have provided AI-use training for teachers and as of the end of this school year, only 13 states provide official guidance for school districts using artificial intelligence in education.

Two of the major concerns for teachers is artificial intelligence chatbots becoming a distraction from learning rather than augmenting enlightenment. Malala was developed to alievate those worries by creating an interface for AI that is narrowed down to education and research materials such as peer reviewed journals.

Artificial intelligence taxonomies can be tailored for personalized learning, enhance learning efficiency, and improve academic performance. Artificial intelligence does not replace human intelligence, it augments it. Therefore, students have to learn how to use the tool and teachers have to be trained in how to evaluate student usage of the tool. The September 2025 update of Malala will also feature guidelines for research and the ability for students and teachers to check for plagiarism. The September 2025 update of Malala uses a customized version of Open AI and open-source academic chatbots for greater accuracy in research for school projects.
